For the Kids
Actor Tom Hardy snaps a shot with young Venom fans at the movie’s premiere on Oct. 1. Hardy, 41, talked to Entertainment Tonight about how his own son, Louis, 10, and how he prepared the actor for the role. “He told me what I was doing wrong, and I was doing more things wrong than I was doing right because children are deeply honest,” Hardy said. “He was my little spirit guide in that aspect.”
Hardy showed up to the U.K. premiere of his movie Legend in Sept. 2015 with his dog Woody as a special guest! Unfortunately, Woddy died after battling a muscle disorder last year. “He has been on many sets. Met many crews. Photo shoots premieres made many, many friends he was #73 most influential animal in TIME magazine. He beat JAWS. Something we all thought was brilliant. He’s been in Peaky Blinders. Legend, everyone who met him loved him. He didn’t have a bad bone in his body. All he knew was love,” Hardy wrote in a blog post after his death.
The Dark Knight Rises actor gets licked by his favorite colleague — Zora the pitbull! The two reunited at the red carpet before the premiere of the movie The Drop in 2014.
Posing with Pooches
Hardy shows off two cute pups at a 2016 charity event in London. In 2012, Hardy told ScreenCrave that he preferred dogs over humans! “A dog couldn’t do anything to upset me, you know, and neither could my son,” he said.
Despite sporting villainous smirks as his most famous characters, Hardy also can make silly faces alongside his furry friends. Hardy told Vulture in 2014 that he had helped find homes for puppies without one. “I always find dogs wherever I go, and if people say they’re looking for a dog, I’ll find them one,” Hardy said. “In fact, I’ve got two on my mobile phone right now, which I’m going to find—an English bulldog and some kind of Weimaraner. I’ve got friends who work in places—ex-police handlers and people who’ve got quarantines or kennels, and they say, ‘We’ve got two dogs that came in. Can [you] find a home for them?’”
The Revnant actor doesn’t just love pups and animals he can carry, he also enjoys the presence of the tallest animals. In July, Hardy compared being seen in public to spotting a giraffe on the street in an interview with Esquire. “Take as many pictures as you want, but one thing is always off limits — the kids. It’s like spotting a giraffe walking down the street. I get it,” he said. “I can see people’s behavior, I can see when a camera’s coming, I can see when a phone is moving, I can see people’s body language. There is no difference between that and a weapon, the hyper-vigilance. It’s just odd. I’m cool with that. But [pictures of my] kids are a f—— no.”
Who Wore It Better?
The Venom protagonist poses in the same onesie as writer Kelly Marcel. Marcel, 44, was one of the screenwriters for the film Hardy starred in. “Hardy Venom 2zip18,” Hardy captioned the grayscaled image in January. Marcel and Hardy have been friends for many years — Hardy even has a tattoo in tribute of the screenwriter, according to The Guardian.
